FAQ

How many puppies will be in class?Puppy classes are kept small with 4-6 puppies per course. This is to ensure that puppies don't become overwhelmed or frightened which can be a risk in large class settings. It also means you have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive individual support.
-
What will my puppy learn? We're all about life skills at All Dogs Are Good! Unlike a traditional obedience class, you won't be learning a large number of tricks or be asking your puppy to sit 20 times per class. We will cover things such as recall, road safety, waiting before rushing out of the door or car, polite greeting behaviour, leaving items on the ground, loose lead walking and being comfortable with handling. We'll also focus on enrichment, developing good social skills and dog body language. You'll hopefully come away with a much better sense of what your puppy is trying to tell you and how to communicate with them.
-
How old should my puppy be to attend class? What if they aren't through their vaccination period?Puppies can attend class if they are 8-16 weeks of age. The venue is thoroughly cleaned before and after class and is not used by other dogs, so your puppy will be as safe as possible while going through their vaccinations. Socialisation is absolutely vital to healthy development so puppy classes provide a safe opportunity for interactions with other puppies and people. If you have any concerns, get in touch.
-
What if I can't attend every session? Can I have a refund? In order to run high quality and consistent classes, as well as operate a sustainable business, there are no refunds if you can't attend puppy classes. If you are missing a particular week, I will endeavour to send you information about what we covered.

What can I expect from an initial assessment session?During our first session I'll gather lots of information from you by asking questions and observing your dog in your home. This is an open and honest chat so you can share your concerns, ideas and behaviour goals. I'll provide some suggestions and also guide you through some practical management strategies where relevant. Following this initial session you will receive an online document which includes a summary of goals, prognosis and information about next steps, including recommendations. You'll also be welcome to attend social walk classes provided they are suitable for your dog.

How many sessions will I need? This depends on the complexity of the issue and how much support you would like along the way. Some people really thrive with just a few sessions and are happy to tackle things from there. Others like the accountability of ongoing support so might book a larger package to kick start some changes. In my experiences a packaged training approach works best - generally just one session is not enough to create lasting change (although it might give you lots to think about and get started on!).
-
How long will it take for things to improve after a session? You're the main driver of this one! Think of it a bit like a new exercise regime - the more you show up and put the time in the stronger the new habits and results become. My aim is to provide you with a clear and easy plan which sets your dog up for success. I also encourage my clients to track their progress so we can celebrate the big wins and discover what really works for your dog.

Do I need to prepare anything? If your dog has a favourite treat it can be useful to have these handy. It's also helpful if you can show me their standard walking equipment and know what brand of food they are on. Some people like to write down some questions or topics in advance of the session and I encourage people to take their own notes if this learning style suits them.
